Privacy Policy & Data Security

1. Introduction

Welcome to SafeMap EDMS (Evacuation & Disaster Mapping System). Your privacy is critically important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data during emergency situations and normal app usage.

2. Information We Collect

To provide rapid and accurate disaster response, we collect the following:

  • Profile Information: Full name, mobile number, and household size provided during registration.
  • Location Data (GPS): We collect your exact GPS coordinates only when you explicitly press the "I'm Safe" or "Need Rescue (SOS)" buttons. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Health & Emergency Context: Optional medical needs or situational details you provide during an SOS request.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is strictly used for disaster risk reduction and management. Specifically:

  • To dispatch emergency responders to your exact location.
  • To account for missing or safe individuals in the 5th District of Negros Occidental.
  • To allocate resources (food, medicine) to evacuation centers based on registered evacuee headcounts.

4. Data Security & Sharing

Your information is encrypted and stored on secure servers. Access is strictly limited to authorized Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) personnel and verified emergency responders. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third-party marketing agencies.

5. Offline Data Processing

If you use the app without an internet connection, your emergency request is temporarily stored in your device's secure local vault (IndexedDB) or formatted for SMS transmission. Once connectivity is restored, the data is synced with our servers and cleared from your local queue.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or request the deletion of your resident profile at any time through the "My Profile" section of the application, except during an active, unresolved SOS dispatch where data retention is necessary for rescue operations.
